This year, to honour the late great Susan Oregede, the first prize award will be in her name. An engraved plaque will be awarded. The winner will go on to be the Student Ambassador on ending sexual harassment in educational institutions and as such will have roles and responsibilities tagged to the title. The overall winner will also be supported with a cash of UGX 5,000,000 as a contribution towards further developing and publishing the innovation.
The late Susan Oregede (EVAW Programme Specialist, UN Women) was the UN Women focal person who initiated this Campaign and wider collaboration with Makerere University on Ending Violence Against Women. This work began in November 2018. A showcasing of GBV actors in Uganda was held in 2018, they came to the university to showcase their initiatives on ending violence against women at the University campus, crowned with a dialogue.
Partners such as CEDOVIP and CDFU came with their IEC materials, the objective was to share with students the available support services. Susan Oregede was involved in the revision of the Sexual Harassment Policy in 2018 as well as supporting the dissemination of the policy. One of the aims of the Two4One contest is to disseminate this policy.
